Choices: to Blog or to Garden?

It’s hard to find time for both at this time of year. Today I weeded the┬áhosta garden in the side yard, removed aging squill foliage,┬ádivided some hostas for the plant sale on May 29th, and top-dressed the bed with composted top-soil from the Agway in Littleton.

Then I moved on to the front yard, digging out lily-of the valley from a foundation bed, and transplanting it under the Japanese maple. Eventually I hope to eradicate the lily-of-the-valley from the foundation garden, and develop a large bed of it to protect the roots of the aging japanese maple. If the convallaria crowds out the grass and weeds there will be no need to mow near the roots.
