Spring Cleaning

The cool weather is a bonus for gardeners. Plants are less shocked by division and transplanting in this weather. I continue to clean up garden beds and divide things for my plant sale on May 29 (see Event details if you missed the original blog post, or wait a day or two, for my next listing of plants that will be for sale.) My hosta bed is cleaned and top-dressed, as is my shade garden near the patio.

There are still foxgloves in the bed that will hold the blueberries, those must be potted up for sale soon, as the blueberries need to get into the ground. Seedlings of garden cress, mache and swiss chard are also waiting to be planted in the garden.

This week will be the last of potting up for the sale, next week will be devoted to general tidying of the yard, and I will make a trek to the wholesale nursery a few days before the sale for some interesting plants to round out the sale.
